Dubai's Victory Heights has handed over almost two-thirds of its luxury villas to owners, with the 600th owner moving into the 961-unit golfing residential community.

The milestone comes as 75 per cent of the 794 first phase homes have been completed, putting the development - which surrounds the award-winning The Els Club golf course - on target for completion of the phase by the end of 2010.

Faruk Uddin received the keys to his five-bed villa in the village of Novelia from Yasser Abulrahman Al Raee, general manager of Victory Heights which is an AED2.5 billion joint venture between Dubai Sports City and the Bahraini investment bank, Arcapita, which is also behind Bahrain's golf course community project, Riffa Views.

"With the first phase of Victory Heights nearing completion, the development is buzzing with activity, starting to feel like an established community. With its spacious homes and beautifully landscaped green spaces, Victory Heights makes the perfect place to set up home," Al Raee said.

The villas are built in three styles - authentic Spanish Andalusian, bold Mediterranean and classic European - with many boasting tranquil views of the golf course's fairways and lakes.

Just a stone's throw away is Dubai Sports City offering residents easy access to all its world-class amenities, including the international cricket stadium, where football matches also are played, The Els Club and The Butch Harmon School of Golf where golfers practise.

In Bahrain, progress on the Riffa Views project continues. Despite well-documented delays, more than 400 villas have been completed and around 300 of these handed over to owners.

Another 100 are scheduled to be handed over during the summer months. More than 30 contractors and sub-contractors are working on site, the developers said.
