The world famous Lipizzaner Stallions - also known as 'The Dancing White Stallions' will be performing an equestrian work of art for the first time ever in the Middle East at the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2010 (BAPS).

The graceful dance of the Lipizzaner Stallions is a ballet which highlights their spectacular leaps and manoeuvres. The stallions are renowned for being the world's greatest exponents of dressage and have a number of beautiful techniques.

The Lipizzan is a rare and unique breed once used by riders in saddle to protect and defend themselves on the battlefield, though these days the beautiful and graceful white horses are renowned as horses of nobility.

The two-hour long performances will be twice daily giving you double the chance to see the show from November 25-27 at the Bahrain International Endurance Village in Sakhir.

The show will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and will continue as a bi-annual event. Organisers ultimately aim to achieve all aspects of sustainable agricultural development, especially livestock, given its vital role in actualising a food security system.

The BAPS official opening ceremony will be on November 24 for VIPs while the show will open the next three days for visitors with free entrance for all.

Also, today is the closing date for photographers to submit their work for a competition which is being held as part of the BAPS celebrations. Organisers of the show have teamed up with Yaquby Stores and The Camera Shop to offer competitors the chance to submit photographs of Bahrain's wildlife.

There are three categories for entry into the competition and all budding snappers or seasoned professionals are invited to submit their work in the appropriate category.

Entries will be judged and winners announced on the day of the opening ceremony by a panel of judges. The top 30 images, 10 from each category, will be featured in an exhibition at the show.

The three categories are students (up to the age of 15), adults and professionals. To enter the competition you can either e-mail: maraeephotography@yahoo.com or post your work on CD/USB to: Miracle Publishing, 9th Floor, NBB Tower, Manama. Include your name, CPR number and state which category you wish to enter.
