The excitement has been building over the last few weeks and finally the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2010 (BAPS) is set to open its doors to the public tomorrow.

Organisers say there will be something for everyone at the free to enter event which will run until Saturday, from 10am to 8pm daily, and promises to be 'the talk of the town'.

"The amazing animals and exciting entertainment is a must for all ages," said a spokesman, "not only to be seen, but to be experienced.

"We look forward to welcoming you to join in with all the fun and games at Bahrain Endurance Village, Sakhir ... and remember entry is free to everyone wanting to attend."

There will be shows ranging from US Military dog demonstrations to the Dancing White Stallions - the famous Lipizzaner horses which are in the Middle East for the first time and will appear twice daily in a thrilling performance throughout the three-day long event.

Equestrian lovers can enjoy further treats with daily horse shows featuring some of Bahrain's finest Arabians on parade. There will also be short presentations from speakers including Dr Nabeel Mohammed Abulfatih who will be speaking about the show preparation of this exquisite breed.

An Education Zone will include presentations from National Geographic guest speakers in the main presentation theatre, plus a spectacular National Geographic gallery displaying stunning images from around the world as well as a bookstore where visitors can purchase signed books from the guest speakers and books relating to wildlife and animals in Bahrain.

A vast array of activities are being organised to keep children captivated including an animal train, rodeo bull and other amusement rides.

There will also be a creatively-built hay maze for children to explore their way around, radio controlled tractor challenges on a mini off-road circuit, pony rides, sheep shearing demonstrations, and if that's not enough, they will have a chance to try milking a cow using a simulator.

And, what better way to finish off the day but to listen to the beautiful sound of opera. An Operetta is to be performed every evening at 7.30pm.

The show is being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad. Its aim is to promote all aspects of sustainable agriculture development, especially livestock.
