Swiss team victorious

THE Swiss team of Albert and Evelyn Hug, Ilya Goniker and Heinz Hurter were victorious in the annual Gulf Air World Cup of Golf at the Royal Golf Club with a combined score of 87 points.

The Italian Team of Bijan Majidi, Pauline Jeakins, Camilla and Steen Davidsen finished in second place with a score of 85 points while the South African Team represented by Madden Broadbent, Kevin Ross, and Rob and Debbie Lane made up the top three finishing on 84 points.

Competitors played in the two ball better ball format on the Royal Golf Club's Montgomerie championship course and were paired up with another two players to make a team of four representing countries across the globe.

Over 100 players took part in the event which culminated in a prize giving lunch.

Results: 1st - Team Switzerland: Heinz Hurter, Ilya Goniker, Albert and Evelyn Hug (net 87 points), 2nd - The Italian Team: Bijan Majidi, Pauline Jeakings, Steen & Camilla Davidsen (net 85 points), 3rd - The South Africa Team: Kevin Ross, Madden Broadbent, Rob and Debbie Lane (net 84 points).

Longest Putt: Gino Gizzi (hole 9). Straightest Drive: Jeong Hae Kwak (hole 15).
