Wednesday (Dec 8)The Bahrain Welsh Society's traditional Christmas carol sing-along followed by a full Christmas dinner and festive disco at Candles in the Dilmun Club has sold out.

An exhibition by traditional pottery experts from Bahrain and Greece at the A'ali Shopping Complex will end today. Costis Chrisogelos, from Thassos, and Bahraini potter Majeed Al Shougul had been working together on the project. Iranian-born Sahar Ahmadi and Lebanese artist Farida Alaan will open the Sahar Art Gallery located on the 34th floor of Orchid Dream Tower 1 in Sanabis at 7pm with an exhibition starting tomorrow from 9am to 1pm and 3pm to 9pm until December 13. Entry is free.

Thursday (Dec 9)

The Young Goans Club will mark its 57th Annual Day at The Palace Hotel in Adliya from 8pm on Thursday. It will feature a performance by The Nightshades and a number of Goan folkloric presentations including traditional dances.

The club's New Year's Eve Dinner Dance to be staged on December 31 at the Ramada Palace Hotel, Gudaibiya. Doors will open at 8pm and also feature the Nightshades. For details contact 39659539, 39048046 or 36355164.

CinŽ-club will showcase French movie Le dernier des fous at the Centre Culturel Franco-Bahre•nien La Maison Jamsheer in Muharraq at 7.30pm. This movie is about the break-up of a peasant family, seen through the eyes of an 11-year-old boy. Admission is free. The movie is in French with English subtitles. For details contact 17683295.

The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam will host a commemorative evening with award-winning writer Benyamin. He was awarded the Kerala Literary Academy Award in 2009. Guest speakers for the event include Indian film director Blessy and author K N. The event will be held at the club's premises from 8pm. Tomorrow, from 4pm, the club will showcase six short films prepared by its Bahrain-based residents for the upcoming International Short Film Festival to be held on December 17 and 18. The Manama Singers will stage its annual carol concert at the Crowne Plaza Convention Centre between 4pm-7pm. Tickets costing BD6 for adults and BD4 for children aged up to 12 are available from the hotel, Alosra and The Bookcase.

Albareh Art Gallery in Adliya will present 'Birds' - a collective exhibition by a group of sculptors from today at 7pm until January 2. The participating artists are Ahmad Al Bahrani (Iraq), Hitoshi Tanaka (Japan), Jamal Abdulrahim (Bahrain), Samer Tabbaa (Jordan), Ali Nori (Iraq), Jivko (France), Mostafa Ali (Syria), Nabil Basbous (Lebanon), Khalil Al Hashimi (Bahrain), Nevine Farghaly (Egypt), Nedim Kufi (Iraq).

Albareh Art Gallery is open Saturday to Thursday, from 10.00am -8.00pm.
