International DJ Stevie George has taken the island by storm and is currently resident at Champs Sports Bar inside the Best Western Elite Hotel in Juffair six nights a week. After hosting a popular radio show in Southern Spain for five years, the music maestro has worked alongside Krazy Kevin in Hong Kong as well as in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Ibiza. In a regular column he'll be checking out the latest releases for GulfWeekly readers.

I am still overwhelmed by the pleasant and welcoming attitude of everybody here in Bahrain. The amount of times people have said 'Welcome To Bahrain' in the space of just a few weeks has immensely outweighed the very few times I heard 'welcome to Spain'.

I am a Cambridge United fan as I firmly believe you should support your home team, as opposed to all those Manchester United fans who are always asked which part of Saar they are from.

Anyway, onto the job in hand and to test the water as they say, I have spotted some excellent albums being released which I will feature each week. Here's one for starters:

BRUNO MARS - Doo Wops and Hooligans (Due out this week)

The second track on the album 'Just The Way You Are' has been played around the world in clubs and on radio stations for months now, setting up what should be a rapidly-selling album. Bruno has been writing songs for many of the major pop artists over the past few years and so it goes with pretty much every album released now that those artists return the favour and 'guest' appear on other songs - Damian Marley, Cee lo Green and B.o.B being the lucky ones this time. Keep your eyes open for when this it hits the record stores.

Actually, just browsing the many releases to come over the next few weeks I was surprised at how many re-releases of old classic albums will be available with the thin veil of 're-mastered' stamped all over the front - but of course, if you missing your favourite album from yester-year then go check some of the following: Bad Manners, Queen, The Fall, Bob Dylan, Bobby Vee, Lindisfarne, Brother Beyond, Sinitta and Smokey Robinson, to name but a few.

Also, keep an eye out for new albums from Cheryl Cole, Pearl Jam, Anna Calvi and one of my favourite labels Hed Kandi who are releasing Twisted Disco 2011 featuring 2cds of mixed house tunes.

So remember boys and girls ... illegal music downloads are killing music production and future talent, your house is at risk if you set fire to it and never say to a DJ 'Can You Play It Next As We're Leaving Soon.....!'.
