THE aviation industry’s demand to feature in the second edition of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS), which will be staged early next year at the Sakhir Air Base, is sky high.

Airshow organisers Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (BCAA) and Farnborough International Limited (FIL) have revealed that 75 per cent of chalet space has already been sold for the event on January 19-21.

Amongst the latest companies to join the existing list of participants are BAE Systems, Bell Helicopter, Boeing, GE Aviation, as well as Bahrainbased Comlux Middle East.

Speaking at the recent European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva – where BIAS 2012 was being promoted – Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, undersecretary for BCAA, said: “BIAS has secured commitment from a number of high-profile, international participants and we are looking forward to welcoming the global aerospace community to Bahrain in January 2012.”

The show is organised by BCAA in conjunction with FIL and in collaboration with the Royal Bahrain Air Force. The inaugural BIAS in 2010 was an overwhelming success.

The event itself was highly exclusive with 40 participating companies, each one operating from its own luxury chalet unit. Participating companies showcased products and services to potential buyers, visiting delegations, media, trade and public visitors
and participated in a full programme of daily flying displays which thrilled the crowds.

Comlux Middle East was established in Bahrain in 2010 to offer locallybased solutions for VIP charter services and aircraft management to the Middle East market. “Comlux Middle East is proud to announce its participation in the Bahrain airshow. We look forward to further expanding our strong presence and relationship with the Civil Aviation Affairs and the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said president Richard Gaona.

FIL exhibitions & events director Amanda Stainer added: “Industry feedback after BIAS 2010 was extremely positive and undoubtedly the chalet sales to date reflect our client’s enthusiasm.

“With so much of our chalet space now sold, still six months from the show, we are looking at new ways of accommodating those
companies who wish to have a representation at BIAS 2012.”
