Please would you be kind enough to help publicise the 2011 Wheelathon that will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit on the afternoon of Friday, October 28.
For those unfamiliar with the event, this is an opportunity for families of all ages to ‘wheel’ around the prestigious grand prix circuit.
Any non-motorised form of wheeled transport is allowed, from bicycles and skateboards through to roller blades and scooters. For the majority this is the only opportunity each year to be on the exact track used by the F1 drivers with the added benefit of doing so while raising money for local charities.
In addition to the 5.4km F1 circuit, there is also a shorter 2.2km track for the younger or less adventurous that still takes in the main grandstand, pit lane and VIP tower.
Funds raised this year will be shared with Think Pink Bahrain and, in keeping with the family nature of the event, the RIA centre for students with learning and social interaction difficulties.
Off track there will be a DJ and family area with refreshments available.
As an added bonus, following your article in GulfWeekly last week, extreme in-line skater Mohammed Salman has agreed to participate, provide some demonstrations and give tips to other enthusiasts.
