Thank you for writing such a sensitive piece about Hussain Al Amir. I have known him and his brother Essam for around 18 years and they have both been my heroes for the way they have tackled life.
I feel as if a huge hole has opened in the disabled community in Bahrain. Hussain was always there digging away at the idea that the blind couldn’t ... well, you supply the ‘what’ they ‘couldn’t’ and ‘shouldn’t’ do; he fought so many things from using a white stick to being a computer whiz.
Once again thank you for giving his life and him the prominence he deserved.

What’s the chance of our embassies here in Bahrain providing expats with gas masks? In recent days my family has been overcome by fumes whilst playing by the pool in our compound, visiting our social clubs and even shopping in a mall. We’re not the ones rioting yet we’re suffering the consequences.
Bemused Brit, name and address supplied.
Thank you very much for picking my name in last week’s FilmWeekly quiz, as it came as a pleasant surprise on my birthday.
Last evening, we enjoyed a lovely movie outing and the grand buffet dinner at Rendezvous courtesy of GulfWeekly and Cineco.
I’m looking forward to participating in more exciting GulfWeekly contests in the future!
