Andrew Marshall won the Bahrain Open for the third time on Saturday at Awali Golf Club.
The Englishman dominated the competition from start to finish and eventually finished on a six under par total of 134 to win by a 17-stroke margin. Marshall, who was in complete control of his game in windy conditions, carded a five under par 65 on the final day which included six birdies and a sole bogey.
Abdulhadi Al Noaimi fired a second round 74 and finished in second place with a two-day total of 151. Al Noaimi opened his final round with a fantastic birdie on the first and continued to exhibit wonderful control of his ball throughout the day.
Young amateur Daniel Owen, who has recently been playing on the Middle East and North Africa Tour in Abu Dhabi, finished in third place after a final round 74 which included three birdies.
Awali Golf Club member Ahmed Al Noaimi finished in fourth place on a 157 total just pipping Ali Musbah who finished fifth. Musbah, who was tied for second place with Khaled Salem after the first round, struggled to replicate his good form on the second day.
The second round was a similar story for Salem, who eventually finished on a total of 159. The others who finished in the top 10 were Mohammed Abdulrrashid (159), Peter O’Brien (160), Mohammed Diyab (161) and Sultan Al Hakam (162).
The other prize winners were Awali Golf Club’s PGA professional Matt Chalmers, who won best gross on the first day with a 78, and Abdulla Al Haji, whose 81 secured him best gross of day two. The best nett score of day one went to Ateeq Majali (76) whilst David Spittal won the prize on the second day with an impressive net 75.
Bapco chief executive Faisal Al Mahroos gave away the prizes in the presence of club president Andy McAlpine and club captain David Bailey.
