THE National Hotel Services Company (NHSC) greensomes competition was held in perfect conditions at Awali Golf Club on Friday.

The greensomes format is a two-person team competition where each team member tees off on the hole and they then select the ball which is in the best position. From there, the players play alternate shots until the ball is in the hole.

This year’s winners were Abdul Elah Fakhro and Nathan Sunderesan with a score of 42 stableford points. There were two teams tied on 41 but David Turner and Arunava Banarjee claimed second place over Hasan Khalifa and Janet McAlpine due to their superior back nine of 23.

In fourth position, Ali Musbah and Hamed Fares Al Qutami scored 40 points which was just enough to pip Hendrik Wessels and Chris Gregory who finished in fifth. Andy McAlpine and Paul Beaumount were the unfortunate pair who also finished on 40 points but lost out on count back.

The prizes were handed out by club captain David Bailey and NHSC sales manager David Pymer.
