BRITISH comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has joined the cast of Les Miserables.
The Borat and Ali G star will join Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Hugh Jackman in the big-screen adaptation of the classic musical.
In the movie, Cohen will take on the role of the villainous Monsieur Thenardier. No stranger to playing the bad guy, Cohen also portrayed nasty racer Jean Girard in the 2006 comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Les Miserables will be the latest film to utilise the comedian’s vocal talents, which he previously showed off in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street adaptation.
Cohen is also set to star in an as yet unnamed biopic about Queen front man Freddie Mercury, which is set to begin production in 2012. Les Miserables is also scheduled to begin filming early in 2012 and will be released on December 7.
