A NEW Toyota paying homage to the marque’s racing history has been unveiled in Bahrain.
The Toyota 86 was launched on Saturday by E K Kanoo, the brand’s distributor in the kingdom, at its showroom in Sitra in the presence of officials and the media.
The BD11,400 model has the spirit of a racing car, with a pure dynamic drive that will stun speed enthusiasts, its makers say.
Ayman Shehadeh, Toyota and Lexus brand manager at E K Kanoo, said: “The all new Toyota 86 is a first class racing car that will exceed all the expectations of racing and speed enthusiasts with its very dynamic, excitement and adventure-filled drive.
“It also marks the return of Toyota to leading this segment and the adding of more versatility to its existing range.” The model boasts a 2.0-litre direct fuel injection horizontal boxer engine with a six speed automatic or manual transmission.
It has a modern look with the traditional sport car angles and its design bears a resemblance to the Supra and 2000GT thanks to its long, low bonnet and high wings.
Safety features include front, side, curtain and knee SRS airbags, Anti-lock Brakes System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control and Brake Assist.
