Gulf Weekly Al Hakam clinches top spot

GOLFERS from Bahrain’s national team all featured high up on the leader board in this month’s TNT Order of Merit at the Royal Golf Club.

Abdulla Al Hakam secured the top spot with a one over par 73 gross just beating Nasser Yacoob on the count back system. Hamad Salem finished in third place on gross 81.

In the men’s net division, youngster Sang Kyoon Shim captured first place with a stunning net 71 to claim top spot by three clear strokes. Rajinder Sachdeva finished second on net 74 while Nigel Brough made up the top three on net 75.

Karin Black outscored everyone to win the ladies gross division by an impressive eight shots with a gross score of 85. Sam Jones and promising youngster Deanna Ngo finished second and third respectively, both on 95 with the latter just missing out on count back.

Meanwhile, Hilde Kwik won the ladies net division on net 84, Debbie Lane was second with net 85 while Karin Lutz took third place with net 86.

“The strong winds made conditions tough out on the course,” said John Wilson, the Royal Golf Club’s Golf operations & events manager. “For Abdulla and Nasser to shoot just one over par was an indication of what great golfers they are. Congratulations to all this month’s winners - we look forward to hosting them in the TNT Club Championship Matchplay Rounds.”
