Reality TV series The Voice continues to bring success around the world and has now been picked up by Dubai-based MBC Group. MBC has acquired the exclusive rights to produce and broadcast the international show on multi-platforms, across the Middle East and North Africa.

The contract was signed in MBC Group’s headquarters in Dubai with Talpa and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Arabia, the format’s owners.

Auditions for the show will be held in the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia, Lebanon and Morocco and will be broadcasted from MBC’s studios in Beirut. Details and dates are yet to be disclosed.

MBC Group TV director Ali Jaber said: “Talent shows have positively affected the TV viewing habits, patterns and trends in the region, while further enhancing the family viewing experience and raising the levels of engagement with TV content, through social media and other platforms.”

Ziad Kebbi, SPT Arabia president, added: “We’re very excited to co-produce The Voice. The format is a blockbuster and now it’s our region’s turn to take up the mantle. In particular, social media and digital extension will play a major role in our production activity; both key elements in uniting the audience across various territories.”

By early 2012, The Voice has been commissioned to over 45 broadcasters around the globe and is on air in 140 territories.
