The Faldo Series continues to bring opportunity to talented golfers and beginners alike with grass-roots activities taking place at several tournaments around the world.
More than 40 children attended the recent Faldo Series UK Championship at Trentham Golf Club in Staffordshire, England. In conjunction with The R&A and the Golf Foundation, they enjoyed several ‘Tri-Golf’ games with guidance from the series competitors.
ìCreating access to golf is a big focus for the Faldo Series and just as important as helping to nurture talented golfers,î said Sir Nick Faldo.
Similar grass-roots activities have taken place at other Faldo Series tournaments this year, in countries ranging from Bahrain to Chile to The Philippines. The Middle East Championship in Bahrain featured a ‘Faldo Mini Series’ event on the Royal Golf Club’s par three course for children as young as five.
Supported in Europe by The R&A, the European Tour and Lough Erne Resort – and in Asia by The R&A, ISPS, Mission Hills Golf Club and UFL – 38 Faldo Series tournaments take place in 28 countries worldwide. Established in 1996, more than 7,000 golfers now participate each year, with past winners including Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
