Water is such a precious commodity, especially when you are living in a desert so it comes as a surprise to find a river flowing outside the Bahrain Rugby Club in Janabiyah after a main burst last week.
One nearby resident raised the alarm by calling a hotline number from the electricity and water board’s website, gave the receiver his CPR number and was asked to call another number. He dialled it and was told to call another number. Unfortunately on his third attempt to alert the authorities the recorded message came back saying the number was unobtainable.
Now hopefully, despite Ramadan working hours, by the time GulfWeekly has been published, someone from the works department will be fixing the leek on road 7113. Another call has been made from the editor’s office.
In different circumstances the extra water would have proved manna from heaven for the groundsmen at the club, but unfortunately the flowing water is running parallel to its new state-of-the-art …. artificial pitch!
