A material as ancient as the art of perfumery itself, Oud, or agarwood, is one of the most welcoming scents to be found around Bahraini homes during Ramadan.
From its earliest creation of ‘Oud  Junaid’ in 1910,  Junaid for Perfumes has combined its richness with a variety of other fragrances and essential oils.

A resin extracted from the heart of the agarwood tree, Oud has been rooted to Arabian culture for centuries and made available in chips which are lit and burned as incense or made into a liquid form and sold as bottled perfume oil.

A part of local culture, Oud plays an essential role in everyday life and is used as a mark of respect and hospitality.

“In Bahrain, the burning of Oud is a traditional gesture for welcoming and honouring guests. Generally, the sales of Oud rise sharply during Ramadan, before both the Eids and during the wedding season as well as it is burned auspiciously during special occasions,” said Hamad Fuad, the company’s director of marketing and sales.

Ornately packed in exquisite bottles, Juanid’s perfume creations are a testament that the tradition of using this age-old fragrance lives on.
