Teen pop singer Joe Jonas is in the running to fill one the remaining judging slots on American Idol.

The 19-year-old singer from boy band The Jonas Brothers confirmed reports he is in talks to take on one of the two vacant positions and said it would be a ‘dream come true’ via a social networking site.

He tweeted: “The rumors are true ... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens.”

Rapper and producer Pharrell Williams is still said to be in the negotiating stages of filling the other position and no official word has been made from previous judge Randy Jackson or American Idol on his position for the next season.

Meanwhile, Former American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart has praised the decision to appoint pop diva Mariah Carey to the show’s judging panel.

Carey signed a rumoured $17 million deal to join the Fox singing competition last month, filling one of the spots left vacant by departing judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Talking to MTV News, Reinhart – who was a finalist on the show’s tenth season –shared her thoughts on Carey, who she branded an ‘amazing diva’.

“I think it’s a great choice, and I don’t think they could have done much better than that,” Reinhart said.

“She’s a huge diva with a huge, beautiful, amazing voice. I don’t think that there’s anybody who could give better critiques to people who are trying to be aspiring singers.”

Reinhart added that she is glad Carey was not a judge on her own season. She said: “I think it would be a little more pressure to say the least. So I’m glad she wasn’t there, but it would have been very cool to meet her.”
