Max works two jobs just to get by, one of which is waiting tables during the night shift at the retro-hip Williamsburg Diner. Caroline comes from a rich family who is having a run of bad luck that forces her to reluctantly give waitressing a shot. At first the two struggle to get along but Max soon learns that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max’s knack for baking, they decide to start raising money to create a cupcake business.

He finds comfort in the flirtatious resort employee Rachel, who tries to mend his broken heart.

Frank is husband to former troubled Sarah. Their wedding day was one of two perfect moments in his life but when Sarah runs away with charismatic drug dealer Jacques, the loss was just too much for him to take. Consequently he transforms himself into the Crimson Bolt, a superhero, in an attempt to take down Jacques along with the rest of the city’s scum. But just as the Crimson Bolt becomes the talk of the town, sociopathic comic-store clerk Libby reinvents herself as Boltie, and makes a play to become the controversial street hero’s trusted sidekick.

Neal Caffrey is a con-man, forger and thief. After he is captured three years into his game of cat and mouse with the FBI, he escapes from prison. FBI agent Peter Burke finds him and puts him back behind bars. However, Caffrey offers Burke a deal; he will help him catch other criminals as part of a work-release programme. Burke agrees and the pair start an unconventional but successful partnership.
