THE first ‘world car’ developed by Chery in China for the global markets, adopting international standard technologies, services and safety, have been unveiled in Bahrain.
The arrival of two new compact models, the Chery A1 and the Chery M1, has already received an ‘excellent response’ according to Motorcity, the kingdom’s distributor.
The cars, fully-loaded with utility and safety features, are being aggressively priced at BD3,750 for the Chery A1 at BD 3,500 for the Chery M1.
They are both powered by a four-cylinder engine, which complies with strict European emission standards, coupled with a five-speed automated mechanical transmission.
Sanjeev Sharma, Motorcity’s passenger cars sales manager, said: “The new generation Chery cars are really exciting in terms of design, performance and safety and the new A1 and M1 are no exception.
“They are already getting an excellent response just as the other popular models such as Tiggo and Eastar were welcomed by the customers in Bahrain. We are quite sure that these models will make their mark in the compact car segment within a no time.”
Some features include power windows and mirrors, a high-performance audio system with four speakers, CD player, MP3/USB jack, central locking with remote and window auto-close, anti-lock brake, seatbelt pre-tensioners, dual front airbags, side impact bars in all doors as well as crumple zones on the front and rear.
