Spring was in full bloom at T-Spoon café in Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre with bright explosions of colour, fragrant florals and striking runway styles, writes Mai Al Khatib.

Bahrain City Centre and the hotel invited women to its latest Taste of Fashion breakfast showcasing Saks Fifth Avenue’s hot spring/summer collections.

Fashion bloggers and guests were offered tasty treats while admiring the boutique’s latest trends for the season, complete with consultation from the store’s style experts.

Aysha Mattar, a member of Saks Fifth Avenue’s marketing and public relations team, said: “We wanted to showcase the trends of the spring/summer 2013 collection straight from the runways and from Saks Fifth Avenue. We wanted to give the guests a feel of the latest styles and how to give their wardrobes a nice pick-up.

“This season’s looks feature a lot of geometric lines and colours, botanical and floral prints, and Lego colours. We styled the Lego colours as bright separates to show customers how they can combine them. It can be a bit loud and not for the faint-hearted but the outfits are a lot of fun and can look especially good when carrying off a summer tan.

“Another popular runway look is the optic white which was a good balance to parallel all the bright pops of colour and prints. It’s something that is sleek and easy to wear for summer.”

Other hot trends that fashionistas can expect to see this season are Bermuda shorts, short suits, exaggerated volume stripes and sheer panels, over-sized ruffles as well as 60s and 80s-inspired looks.
A blonde-haired model started off the show dressed in an over-sized floral printed dress, but it was her solid orange and white dress teamed with blue heels, picture above, that captured everyone’s attention.
Another took on two styles at once dressed in a white suit with giant ruffled sleeves and black piping along the sleeves and down the trousers. She also looked summery in a textured yellow number and pink heels.

Duaa Zainal, 26, the i-speak-fashion blogger, from Sanad, said: “I loved the collections as they were so colourful. I love stripes, florals and bright colours which is why I look forward to spring. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of Alexander McQueen’s yellow shoes. My favourite piece was the Céline orange and white dress. The entire show was amazing.”

After the fashion show, a few lucky ladies went home with either a BD100 shopping spree at the mall or a dinner-for-two prize at the hotel’s Arabic restaurant, Baharat. One guest even won a designer handbag from Saks Fifth Avenue. Everyone received a complimentary goodie bag from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, the centre’s senior manager, said: “We are pleased with the continued success of ‘Taste of Fashion’. The event is a fun way to bring together women in the community for a relaxing morning with friends to learn about the newest style trends and receive exclusive beauty and fashion advice from retailers.”
