The sixth generation of the Maserati Quattroporte – a flagship of the Maserati product range – was unveiled in style at a glamorous ceremony at the residence of Zayed Al Zayani, managing director of Euro Motors, in Riffa.
The launch, which was attended by brand officials, VIP guests and the media, paid tribute to the larger, lighter, more luxurious and faster variant of the luxury sports sedan.
The Quattroporte is the ‘essence of Italian car design’ with a style dedicated to proportion, dynamism and purity that delivers new standards in quality in every area from design to development, fabrication and process controls, its makers say.
Mr Al Zayani said “We are honoured at Euro Motors to introduce the all-new Maserati Quattroporte for the first time in the Middle East, the leading sporty vehicle in the luxury sedan segment and we are confident that it will exceed the expectations of all Maserati enthusiasts in Bahrain.”
New cabin features include Wi-Fi WLAN hotspot, 15 speakers, 1280Watt Bowers and Wilkins premium surround system and many features are controlled via the 8.4-inch Touch Control screen
Under the bonnet of this sleek and aggressive looking mean machine are two available engine options, a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 and 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6. Both models use an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The direct-injection V8 delivers 530CV and up to 710Nm of torque and makes the dash from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 307kmph.
Meanwhile, the V6 twin-turbo delivers 410CV and its 550Nm is greater than the torque peak in the outgoing Quattroporte Sport GT S. It accelerates from to 0-100 in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 285kmph.
The first model of Maserati’s strategic step in industrial growth, the new Quattroporte is the start of a journey that aims to see the company’s sales increase by a factor of eight by 2015. The Quattroporte will be followed by Ghibli and the Levant luxury SUV entering key growth segments for the brand.
Starting with the original Quattroporte in 1963, Maserati invented the concept of the luxury sports sedan and the new Quattroporte continues to be the benchmark for high quality engineering, supercar performance and luxury sedan comfort.
Quattroporte is Italian for ‘four door’, although the new model shares a basic platform with Maserati’s 2-door Gran Turismo coupe and Gran Cabrio convertible.
Timed to coincide with the launch of the new Quattroporte at the Detroit Motorshow, Maserati now has a new official Maserati.com website created to be compatible for viewing on smartphones, tablets and all the latest-generation devices.
Prices will be announced shortly.
