The duo of Ali Jassim and Fahad Al Yacoob demolished the competition to win the opening round of the latest Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club, sponsored for the next six weeks by Nandos Restaurants.
The pair’s gross score of four under was enough to win the nett competition with a score of 29.9. Husband and wife pairings took both second and third places – Rob and Debbie Lane were runners up with a nett score of 33 and Ray and Brendy Santiago were close behind with nett 33.2.
A total of 40 players took part in the pairs scramble competition on the Club’s Montgomerie championship course, all hoping to get some points on the leader board at the start of the new series.
The presentation of prizes took place in the Club’s exclusive Members’ Lounge after play and the Royal Golf Club’s golf operations manager, Cormac Flannery, was on hand to present the prizes.
“It’s great to see the new series get off to such an impressive night of scoring,” said Flannery. “We welcome Nandos onboard as new sponsors and wish all the competitors the best of luck for the upcoming series.”
The Nandos Monday Madness Night Golf Series is open to non-members at a cost of BD20 per night for the 9-hole event. Competitors tee off every Monday evening in a 6.30pm shotgun start.
