Bahrain Rugby Club’s schoolboy sensation Jack Bonner, pictured right, shone when Premiership rugby giants Saracens visited Biggleswade Rugby Club in England for a summer holiday rugby coaching course aimed at aspiring young players.

The Under-12s fly-half won the coveted Player of the Day Award from Saracens on the first day of the course.

The club have held annual courses at Biggleswade for the past five years as part of a partnership agreement. Around 50 players aged six to 14 were put through their paces by the Saracens community coaching staff as part of a newly-devised fitness and skills programme.

Players attended from clubs all over the area with the honour of the furthest travelled going to Jack Bonner, 11, the British School of Bahrain (BSB) pupil who lives in Janabiyah.

The Saracens fan was over in the UK with mum Jo, a science and biology teacher at the BSB, and dad Paul, a director at construction consultants AECOM, visiting family and friends for the summer holidays, with sister, Rosie, nine.
