The latest designer autumn and winter collections took centre stage over breakfast in Bahrain.

Swan-like models paraded around the T-Spoon Cafe in glamorous designer gowns fit for the red carpet in front of a party list of invited VIP guests and members of the press.

This was the third Bahrain City Centre and Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre’s Taste of Fashion held in collaboration with Saks Fifth Avenue since the chic coffee morning-style event first began in 2012.

Mark Asfahni, Saks Fifth Avenue Bahrain store manager, said: “With the launch of our ‘LOOK’ campaign at the beginning of August and the arrival of our Fall/Winter collections, we felt it was a great opportunity to co-host an exciting event like Taste of Fashion.

“This season’s mood is all about magnificence, statement dresses that have been revamped for red carpets, dazzling parties and black-tie evening balls.”

Models were dressed to the nines in designer gowns from some of fashion’s biggest names such as Temperly, Chloe, Carmen Marc Valvo, David Meister, Emilio Pucci, Rachel Gilbert, Tadashi Shoji and Notte by Marchesa.

The show began on a high note with a stunning patterned Emilio Pucci gown, setting the pace for the glitzy and fashionable affair. Emilio Pucci is such a popular designer; celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian covet her creations.

Guests nodded in approval as one sweeping gown after the other appeared featuring lace, sequins, a sexy slit or a striking pattern.

The black and gold gown was another knock-out creation that was classy on its own, but would really stand out when paired with high heels and dangly earrings.

The white sequin wrap dress was another favourite with the crowd as it can be worn for any occasion, even as a bridal dress. The wrap-effect is ideal for women who want to accentuate their curves while covering up any troublesome areas.

Saks Fifth Avenue Bahrain showed women how to make each outfit a smash hit without going over-the-top.

The only downside to this show was that it felt like it ended as quickly as it began. Then again, time does fly when guests are having fun and watching the models strut their stuff in jaw-dropping designs.

After the show, Saks Fifth Avenue distributed locker keys to attendees giving them a chance to get their clutches on a beautiful Chloe bag.

It was certainly a case of handbags at dawn as guests struggled with their lockers. One invitee was in such denial that she asked store representatives if her key was faulty because although her key fitted inside the lock, it wouldn’t turn.

Aside from the locker gimmick, as with every Taste of Fashion session, two lucky guests returned home with a selection of prizes including a BD100 mall shopping gift voucher and a Turkish Hamam spa treatment.
