Around 150 people turned out at Bahrain RFC on Friday for a special charity netball tournament organised of the Movember men’s health campaign.
From those who had never seen a game of netball before to veteran players, from long-time club members to first-time visitors, from teenagers to the young-at-heart, everybody got into the spirit of the strictly social tournament with some impressive outfits, see action picture above.
Aside from that though, the club also managed to bring the total efforts of its Movember campaign to date past the BD2,000-mark.
First launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2004, the Movember Foundation has established itself as a leading charity organisation for men’s health; themed around the growing of moustaches – or ‘mos’ – throughout the month of November.
Last year Bahrain RFC raised more than BD6,000 for men’s health organisations through its Movember campaign and one of the driving forces behind those efforts, first XV veteran Sal Wilson is back on the trail again.
Wilson has been joined by other members and of the first XV and fellow ‘mo-bros’ including Arron Dalgarno, Dave Horner, club captain Tom Ham and team manager, Andrew Wilkie.
In a repeat of last year, the club is organising a special shave-off event at the end of the month in an effort to build up some more funds but with the Dubai Sevens taking place from November 28-30 this year, this has been brought forward to Tuesday, November 26.
