Ahmed Zayani & Sons has launched the 2014 Skoda Octavia at the company’s new Skoda showroom in Sitra.
Skoda design chief Jozef Kabaň and his team revised the car from head-to-toe with the goal of making it more dynamic than ever, its makers say.
This third generation model aims to entice drivers with its sleek curves and aggressive new grille. The wheelbase has stretched by 108mm, delivering a bigger cabin and more space.
Available engines are 1.4 TSI with 140bhp and 1.8 TSI with 180bhp and 1.6-litre variant is expected to arrive by the middle of next year.
More than 3.7 million Octavia’s have been sold worldwide since 1996, making the Octavia the best seller in the company’s rollercoaster 117-year history.
Many years ago, the brand from the East European Communist State of Czechoslovakia had a reputation so unflattering it could be summed up with the line: ‘How do you double the value of a Skoda? Fill it with petrol!’
Back in the UK, what with the price of fuel, no one would be laughing at that gag anymore. And, after being taken over by German automotive giants Volkswagen in 2000, no one can joke about Skoda’s well-deserved reputation of supreme levels of reliability, class and comfort.
