THE nation’s bellboys are in training to show off their skills manoeuvring around obstacles and carrying luggage, all while keeping smiles on their faces.
They will be going for glory at the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain, which will herald the first of the year’s big charity events as the bellboys race for Bahrain.
The first Bell Boy Race in Bahrain features some of the top hotels from around the island and follows the success of last year’s challenge between waiters.
Creator of the event, Heinz Krähenbühl,general manager of Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain, will host the event at the hotel’s car park this weekend.
He said: “Following our splendid success with last year’s Waiter’s Race held on the shores of Arad Bay, we once again wish to emphasise the importance in supporting the local community through collective efforts.
“Not only will the proceeds bless our local Bahrain charities, the top hotels of Bahrain will enhance the team spirit of each property as we face-off in the most gruelling charity race in the hospitality industry!
“Do not miss this chance to give back to the community in a very unique and rewarding way!”
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to teams which can most adeptly conquer the obstacles of a bellboy’s daily routine. The team finishing the fastest without losing any bags will win the top prize.
Supporters are invited to cheer on the daring hotel teams from the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa, MövenpickHotel Bahrain, Sheraton Bahrain Hotel, Gulf Hotel, Radisson, Crowne Plaza,Intercontinental Regency, Rotana Arjan and Sofitel Bahrain on Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
