Gulf Weekly Sadeem smart fuel cards milestone

Bapco has accomplished a major milestone by achieving the sales of 40,000 Sadeem smart fuel cards in Bahrain.

The occasion was celebrated recently by the Cards Business Unit in the presence of general manager marketing, Khalid Buhazza, and the manager local marketing, Nooruddin Ebrahim, as well as other employees from the team.

The target was set by Bapco management and was completed successfully despite activities only commencing in March last year.

Mr Buhazza said: “The achievement would not have been made possible without the key support of the company’s management and other departments.”

The Sadeem smart fuel card service has grown in popularity since its inception in May 2012. Bapco’s next target is to achieve 80,000 cards and extend Sadeem services to 35 service stations by the end of 2014.

The Sadeem card is a payment method that can currently be used at any participating BAPCO service station.

It enables customers to improve their fuel consumption management and control through applying smart card technology.

The Sadeem card concept is similar to debit and credit cards. However, it is linked directly to the fuel pumps, which allows the customer to pay only for the dispensed fuel volume.

This also enables customers to view their consumption reports over a period of time, which facilitates their accounting and control tasks too.

Sadeem card is currently accepted in 16 Bapco service stations in the kingdom.
