Al Qutami clinches inaugural tournament in styleHamad Fares Al Qutami was the medal winner in the inaugural Hisham Cup tournament at the Awali Golf Club with an excellent gross 73.
The competition has been introduced to the club’s calendar of events this season and sponsored by Hisham Abdulrahman. The format of play was 18-holes singles strokeplay and players competed with seasonal greenery still in evidence around the course.
Yong Back Kim continued to show improvement and emerged the overall net winner, carding a nett 66. Bill Scarth also maintained his good run of form coming in second shot behind with a nett 67.
Prizes were presented by Ateeq Majali on behalf of Abdulrahman. Differing from the usual practice in strokeplay competitions, they were not allocated on a flighted basis. Also, as part of the conditions for the day, the sponsor had specified that prize-winners would only be able to claim their prize if present in the clubhouse at the prize-giving, which resulted in a couple of happy players clutching a prize that they were not expecting to receive.
