I’m not going to lie; I did not watch the Grammys. I gave up on that years ago because I used to believe that the show was the height of the music industry, where the best of the best, the crème de la crème are awarded for their efforts.
However, I soon learned that the Grammys is merely a fraudulent construction of mass media. Artists that we have grown accustomed to rolling our eyes at have even been awarded with the greatest prize in music.
The singer: Lorde, famous for singing royals, at the ripe age of 17, won two awards at the ceremony last week, making her the third youngest artist to ever be awarded a Grammy. As well as the third youngest person to make me feel like I’ve achieved nothing.
Yet, her winning two Grammys means that she has now been awarded more of them than other music industry giants such as Britney Spears, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and even Queen.
Now I like royals as much as the next person. Yet, I think the music industry needs to get their priorities right.
