Players were out in force at the Awali Golf Club on Friday, competing in the KTC Spring Medal strokeplay competition, sponsored by Khayber Trading Company.

Ebrahim Al Hashel’s quality play shone through with a score of gross 68 over the 18 holes, securing the overall winner’s title with a nett score of 64 and also the medal for lowest gross score.

Along with prizes awarded on a flighted basis, a prize for overall runner-up was also awarded and Rajesh Khanna, showing the handicaps committee that they may need to peer through their microscope again, grabbed this one with a gross 87, nett 65.

Conditions were excellent for those who could keep their ball on the fairway and avoid it being lost in undergrowth.

Following popular demand, the sight of a lawnmower on the sand course was something novel, and both Ali Musbah and Peter O’Brien managed to card excellent par 70 scores, perhaps as a result of this much-needed lawn manicure.

Prizes were presented by Sarah Zimmer, daughter of KTC’s technical director Dave Smith, as well as managing director Manolis Karaolis, assisted by club captain Steve Brown and tournament director Abdul Elah Fakhroo.
