Bahrain-based tour golfer Daniel Owen signed a new contract with the Royal Golf Club to act as a club ambassador.

Owen, 24, who in his second season playing as a professional on the MENA Golf Tour, finished in the top 10 last year, met with the Royal Golf Club’s general manager, DJ Flanders, to sign a new one-year agreement with the club.

“Dan is a former junior member of the Royal Golf Club and did fantastically well in his second professional season on tour,” said Flanders’ “As a club, we are proud to be associated with him and wish him every success for the coming season.”

The MENA (Middle East & North Africa) Golf Tour is an initiative of the Shaikh Maktoum Golf Foundation, supported by the Arab Golf Federation and R&A, aimed at giving amateur and professional golfers from the region the opportunity to develop their skills alongside international players.

“I’ve been training hard at the Royal Golf Club over the winter and look forward to getting back on tour next month when I head off to Morocco for the first event of the season, the Royal Golf D’Anfa Open in Casablanca,” said Owen at the signing ceremony. “My main goal for 2014 is to achieve my first tour win as a professional.”
