Bapco’s interdepartmental tournament took place at Awali Golf Club. The team golf competition, for oil company employees only, has been played since 1957.

This year competition attracted an increased number of teams competing for a trophy and a steady queue of beginners having a go with Awali Golf Club’s PGA Teaching Professional, Steven Gerrish.

A total of 65 golfers took part and competition for the prize was extremely close with only two points separating the top four teams.

The trophy was won by Refining 2 (128 points) comprising Adel Al Moayyed, Mark Hodgkinson, Paul Anderson (43 points) and David Starkie. Second place was Security (127 points) comprising Adel Al Gaoud, Hussain Salem, Nasser Eid and Reuben San Miguel. Third place were last year’s winners Medical (also 127 points) comprising Richard Loker, Petri Kettunen, Lynn St Lawrence and Essa Al Qatami. Fourth place were Refining (126 points) comprising Graham Tole, Abdul Elah Fakhroo, David Hurlock and Nathan Wright.

Leading individual was Roberta Trzebinski with 42 points and leading non-handicapper was Yoy Young with 24 points.

Bapco’s chairman & acting chief executive Adel Khalil Al-Moayyed and members of the executive management team were also present.
