As the Dilly prepared for its 40th anniversary last weekend one of its former mainstays Murthy Iyer was flying away from the island to start a new life in the land of the rising sun with his wife, Mayumi, in Tokyo.

The former acting general manager at the popular expat club, who had a managerial stint at a couple of restaurants in Adliya after severing a 22-year association with the Dilmun Club, has joined a premier Indian hospitality group operating a chain of Indian restaurants in the Japanese capital.

Good luck Murthy, a genuine good guy and great hospitality operator.
