Gulf Weekly Fantastic four turn five

GulfWeekly’s favourite foursome Anya, Connor, Aidan and Rory turned five … and they are bigger and cuter than ever.

The quads recently celebrated their birthday at a park in Budaiya near their home with proud parents Zall and Cynthia Koohpaima and close friends. Big sister Arianna, 18, was stuck cramming in some extensive studying for her business course, which she takes at the Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town.

Cynthia said: “We had a picnic quite on the fly. It was a nice, relaxed, if overcast, day but we wanted to do something on their actual birthday as we knew they would have their parties with other children in their respective classes at school.”

The fabulous four shared their birthday with fellow pupils at the Modern Knowledge School in Juffair.  The quads are placed in separate KG-1 classes and each class consists of 34 students.

Cynthia said: “They all had a lot of fun with their classmates. Each class had a party and a shared cake ... except for Anya. She was the only February baby in her class so she got to be the star of the show and we got her a special cake, all shades of pink, that she ‘designed’ herself. The boys all had cakes along with the other kids.”

Anya wore a lovely pink dress to match her special cake and the boys looked smart in their striped suits and blue ties.

As Cynthia and Zall joined in the classroom fun, they began to reminisce on how fast their quads had grown up. They have come a long way since becoming the first quadruplets in the kingdom for 16 years.

“They are an amazing blessing, a gift for all of us, no matter what age – new-born, at two and now at five. Precocious are our fantastic four,” said Cynthia.

“I was just reflecting on how they have grown and how they have many of the same traits. They are affectionate, loving, outgoing, observant and all have a real sense of humour and adventure. They are also very helpful and considerate of others feelings and are usually found playing jokes on each other.”

Although they are very similar in many ways, each child has a different personality. According to mum, Aidan is still the laughing, giggling and super affectionate one who is very ‘by-the-book’. Anya is an old soul and still keeps her brothers in line until she gets fed up. Then she calls on Arianna her ‘Big Sissy’ for help.

Connor is the deep thinker, the serious little guy with a big heart. As for Rory, he continues to talk his parents’ ears off and is an outgoing organiser.

Cynthia said: “Connor likes to make plans, all the time, for everyone, including his mummy and daddy! He and Aidan still entertain us with their singing and dancing.

“Just like most siblings, one moment they can be playing nicely, lovingly and hugging one another. The next moment, it’s a live, unscheduled mixed martial arts match!

“Still though, it’s fascinating watching them learn the same exact curriculum at the same time and seeing each child’s particular strengths and the progress being made. It’s not a comparison by any means, just really nice to see them in a setting where they get to be an individual as opposed to one of four. They are each very special and we love them so very much.”
