Gulf Weekly Sales increase 33 per cent for European brands

BMW and MINI sales for 2014 in the kingdom have increased 33 per cent for the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2013.

Paul Yates, general manager, Euro Motors, said: “The year has got off to a good start for both BMW and MINI as a result of a host of great new range of models we have introduced to the market that have included the M235i Coupé, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé as well as the new MINI Hatch. We have a lot of exciting plans for the remainder of the year and we are confident it will be a resounding success.

“It’s been a very busy first half year and we will continue the fast pace for the rest of the year as we have a number of launches still to come that will include the X3 with some design and technology enhancements,  the all-new X4 and X6 which will all add to the X model success story.

In addition, a completely new five-door MINI Hatch will join the MINI portfolio increasing the total number of MINI models available to eight.”

Leading the way for BMW in Bahrain was the BMW 5 Series, which saw sales increase 34 per cent, followed by the BMW X5 with 246 per cent sales increase as a result of the new model that was introduced late last year and a 35i engine variant that was introduced earlier this year. The BMW X6, X3 and X1 also contributed to the growth of the BMW brand - all four BMW X models accounted for 30 per cent of Euro Motors’ total BMW sales.

During the first half, MINI also continued with its popularity in the Bahraini market with the MINI Countryman and the MINI Coupé performing as best-sellers.
