The Awali Golf Club (AGC) has welcomed back Matt Chalmers as Head PGA Professional for the upcoming season.
After a year-long stint in China, Chalmers is excited to be back in his old role in Bahrain. He said: “I had a mixed year in China where I enjoyed some highs and lows, but decided that I was not happy enough with life there to commit to another year.
“After all, Awali Golf Club was always going to be a hard act to follow! I am delighted to be arriving back in Bahrain and will be available for lessons.”
Chalmers has also been accepted onto a master’s degree programme in sports coaching. He said: “I am also very excited to have been accepted onto a master’s degree programme in sports coaching, through the University of Birmingham. I will be commencing the three-year programme in September and I have no doubt that this high-level education will enhance my coaching skills and allow me to offer a continually improving coaching service.”
It has been two years since Chalmers has experienced August in Bahrain and is gearing up for a hot welcome. He was contacted by a few people interested in having lessons throughout August. “In order to beat the heat, I will happily carry out very early morning, or late afternoon coaching sessions should there be demand,” he said.
As a summer special, he is offering an extra lesson in any coaching packages purchased this month. These lessons can be used at any time throughout the season.
The summer specials are as follows: Season rate = 5 x 30 minute lessons for BD70 - Summer special rate = 6 x 30 minute lessons for BD70 Season rate = 5 x 60 minute lessons for BD135 - Summer special rate = 6 x 60 minute lessons for BD135 In addition, he is also offering a special rate of BD30 for a 9-hole playing lesson.
