Line up correctly

It is such a pity when I watch a student work hard grooving a consistent swing and then watch them miss their targets on the course by not aligning correctly.

Correct alignment is important with all clubs, but especially with the driver as this club sends the ball the greatest distance. Follow these key points to help straighten your drives.

* Start from the back of the tee and decide where you want to tee the ball up (middle of the markers, left side or right side), and then where you would like it to land on the fairway.

* Tee the ball up and then stand a couple of metres back, keeping the ball between you and your target.
* In your mind imagine a straight line of string running from the ball to the target.

* Let your eyes follow the line from the ball and you will find a mark on the ground maybe one or two feet in front of the ball.

* Walk in slowly and carefully align the club to the mark on the ground.

Always remember the clubface should aim at the target and the body should aim parallel as if you were standing on a railway track.
