Gulf Weekly New initiative takes off

A new initiative entitled Tahleeq has been launched aimed at shaping the future leaders of Bahrain’s aviation industry.

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), is behind the graduate training programme with support from the Ministry of Transportation and Tamkeen.

BAC chief executive officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said: “As one of Bahrain’s leading employers, BAC is driven by its commitment to invest in local talent.

“Tahleeq presents an ideal platform for talented graduates motivated by passion and who have a thirst for knowledge to join BAC’s team of professionals and kick-off their careers with this valuable experience.”

Tahleeq is a programme for aspiring, high-performing Bahrainis. The two-year scheme has been designed to immerse graduates into the aviation sector while obtaining valuable practical experience as BAC embarks on the Airport Modernisation Programme.

Ahmed Nemat, acting undersecretary for civil aviation affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, said: “We are proud of our partnership with Bahrain Airport Company and the efforts exerted to launch this programme which will pave the way for nationals to be trained by experts within the aviation field.”

He also added that such training programmes should focus on specialisations required by the aviation industry in line with the ministry’s directions to attract and develop young and promising Bahraini talent.

Tamkeen, the official name for the Labour Fund, is a semi-autonomous yet independent authority which formulates strategic and operational plans to enhance the overall prosperity of Bahrain by investing in Bahraini employability, job creation, and social support.

Its vice-president for human capital development, Amal Al-Kooheji, said programmes have been developed, according to market requirements, to provide Bahrainis with opportunities to gain the necessary skills to ‘make them the employees of choice’.

This initiative is aimed at attracting young people wishing to specialise in engineering, airport operations, information technology and facilities management. Eligible candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

The selected applicants will be expected to commit to the two-year programme, where they will be exposed to the various areas to ensure they gain full insight into the company’s work.

To enable effective skills transfer, the programme will also feature regular coaching sessions with experienced and qualified mentors.

Those interested in signing up should submit their resumes via the company’s official website www.bahrainairport.com/career
