THE Palm Association would like to take this opportunity to send a very BIG thank you to all the individuals and companies who have supported us and given so generously to our association.
It is thanks to them that we are able to help those who need it most.
The Great Gatsby Ball held last weekend at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa managed to make around BD30,000 after all expenses were paid.
This was achieved through ticket sales, donations, an auction and the sale of ‘gift bags’.
The money raised will be used for our Feed-A-Family programme providing155 food parcels to needy Bahraini families monthly, and possibly for the Project Rebuild where we will refurbish some of the houses which are in very poor and dilapidated conditions.

I would urge the police to place some of their community officers on patrol along Exhibitions Avenue in Hoora as the perilous parking situation has gone beyond a joke.
It appears some motorists are just as arrogant off the road as on it and believe that pavements are ideal places to leave their vehicles. As a result pedestrians, including children who attend a nearby school, are often being forced on to this dangerous busy road.
Why can’t the authorities tow these cars away and issue fines on their owners like they do in most major cities around the world?
