Bentley unveiled its new range-topping version of the Mulsanne at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The Speed is an ultra-luxury grand tourer and is set to arrive in the Middle East in early 2015.
Living up to its name, it makes the 0-100kmph dash in 4.9 seconds and has a staggering top speed of 305kmph.
It uses the same 6.75-litre V8 as the outgoing model but is retuned to deliver 537PS (up from 512PS) and 1,100Nm of torque.
Fuel economy has been improved by 13 per cent, but it’s still thirsty, managing a combined cycle figure of little over 19mpg and emissions of 342g/km.
The new model boasts specially treated, tinted stainless steel exterior details, along with directional pattern 21-inch wheels. The interior is as opulent as you’d expect from a Bentley, with Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, plus various two-tone colour options for the leather upholstery.
The cabin is a contemporary reinterpretation of the interior of the Bentley flagship. To create a modern two-tone feel, a new colour split is available, with new stitch lines, that balances diamond quilted light-colour hide with darker, smooth hide. A new technical veneer option is available, with Piano Black veneer panels now including expertly handcrafted carbon fibre inlays. These new, contemporary panels have been especially developed for the Mulsanne Speed and match the rich, lustrous finish of the Piano Black veneer.
Optional technology includes a 60GB internal hard drive for music and films, along with electrically operated tables in the front seat backs to allow rear row passengers to work on the go, thanks to iPad connectivity. Additionally, Bentley calls the Naim 2200 watt audio system the ‘best in car sound experience in the world.’
Chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, Wolfgang Dürheimer, said: “The new Mulsanne Speed is the car that defines Bentley, as a flagship for driving luxury performance. Our customers don’t compromise, and we’ve adopted the same approach in the design, engineering and crafting of our new flagship.
“The Mulsanne Speed is distinguished, calm and relaxing, but always with a connection to the road and relentless dynamic performance on demand. In this car, every journey becomes a drive.”
