THE spotlight fell on the 2015 Lincoln MKC at a glittering launch ceremony in the grounds of a popular restaurant hosting a fashion event in Adliya.

Pretty models unveiled a bright golden example of the car and were swiftly joined by executives of Almoayyed Motors, the authorised distributor of Lincoln in Bahrain, on the specially erected stage in the gardens of Block 338.

Soon the catwalk was alive with the beats of funky music as the latest clothes were showcased in a Woman This Month spectacular but all eyes were firmly fixed on the recently-introduced 2015 Lincoln MKC – a totally revamped vehicle that its makers say combines elegance, comfort and power to cater to today’s premium luxury market.

“Designed to inspire, the revamped model will change the way people look at Lincoln,” an Almoayyed Motors spokesman said.

Special features of the car include a 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine that produces 240 horsepower at 5,500rpm and 270lb-ft of torque at 3,000rpm. With a stylish design, the MKC, with a starting price of BD16,995, aims to portray elegance in a sporty way but still managing to carry on the DNA that has made Lincoln such a popular brand in the market since its creation.

With its signature split-wing grille defined by high intensity discharge headlamps to its hands-free, wraparound liftgate featuring full-width LED tail lamps, the MKC stands out from the small premium utility crowd.

Its high beltline and low shoulders create a sturdy, athletic presence, while its pedestal side mirrors enhances its elegance. Features such as soft exterior lighting and an available Panoramic Vista glass roof add to the car’s luxurious, sophisticated feel.

The MKC also comes with a fresher and more personal touch to technology. Most prominently, it has an approach detection feature that can sense an approaching owner from up to nine feet away and respond by illuminating ‘welcome mats’ on the ground next to the front doors along with the headlamps and door handle pockets. It also utilises SYNC with MyLincoln Touch – a tool that enhances interaction by using voice and touch commands to control different media.

The vehicle is also equipped with a collision warning brake support, a lane keeping system and a driver’s assist to help avoid common accidents. It also introduces an all-new ‘Park Out Assist’ that helps drivers manoeuvre out of tight parking spaces, and a blind spot information system that continuously monitors the blind spots using high-tech radar sensors.
