Gulf Weekly Flying off to Shanghai

Faraan Irfan cruised to victory in the Bahrain Grand Final of the prestigious Volvo World Golf Challenge at the Royal Golf Club, winning with a stableford score of 40 points.

Alan Vandewater claimed the runners-up spot with a score of 37 points and Cory Twarog narrowly clinched third place on countback with 36 points.

Irfan and Vandewater will now receive complimentary invitations to fly off and represent Bahrain in the five-day World Final, an unforgettable golfing occasion which will take place between April 25-30 next year in Shanghai, China. Here, they will compete for the chance of being crowned Champion of the World.
 
Nearest the pin side contests on holes 2 and 16 of the Royal Golf Club’s Montgomerie championship course were won by Stephen Wagstaff and Nigel Brough respectively and a longest drive side contest on hole 13 was won by Khalifa Al Merisi. A hole in one prize of a Volvo V40, sponsored by Kanoo Vehicle Leasing and AXA Insurance, went unclaimed on hole 16.

Sixty golfers took part in the final having successfully qualified during the six previous competitions held at the Royal Golf Club throughout the year.
