There is an age-old adage, ‘A fool and his money are soon parted’. In other words, better save while you can. Therefore, you don’t have to break the bank when shopping this holiday season if you keep to value-brand stores that offer amazing prices and great quality.

I stopped into the new Sana store that just opened in Muharraq. This company has a rich history that spans decades and has lived up to its three basic principles of ‘price, comfort and quality’.

Once I looked around the massive outlet I noticed the large selection of winter wear displayed throughout the store and then a light bulb went off: “Okay, I’ll give the gift of comfort this year because not only are these prices right but they are holding a ‘Buy 2, get 1 free’ sale now.”

Gift-giving for the winter-folks back home is now solved, because Canada equals cold and they need all the help they can get battling good old Jack Frost.

I saw a cute outfit for a little boy on a miniature mannequin wearing a navy and white argyle sweater over a grey turtleneck paired with distressed denim for a cool BD14. And that’s a super cute gift idea.

I saw puffy men’s jackets in assorted rainbow colours perfect for dad and cosy warm sweaters and cardigans for mum. There was a whole wall of hats, scarves and mitts in sizes for the entire family in winter whites, muted pastels, orange and cobalt blue, bright red and black and cutesy animal faces with ears that look like Grandma Rose knitted them.

I voted for the pom pom-topped hats with long strings for the kiddies to pull and tease each other. Why not make the holidays interesting?

Before I left I couldn’t help but admire the adorable girls’ dresses – fantastic for any festive occasion – in pink lace and tulle fashioned with satin-like material adorned with tiny roses and ribbon with prices starting at BD6.900.
