Awali Golf Club’s traditional December Christmas Hamper strokeplay competition, sponsored by BMMI-Alosra, was held in great golfing conditions. Taking advantage of the light winds, clear skies and clement temperatures, net scores were not hampered as all prize-winners came home in the 60s!
Noteworthy also was the fine play of Hamed Salem, carding a gross 69 – one under par for the course and capturing the best gross medal. Additionally, a rare feat of an eagle 2 was achieved on the 17th by Hamad Fares Al Qutami.
Club Captain Abdul Elah Fakhroo presented the prizes in presence of BMMI representatives Micheal Goodger and Paul Terblanche.
Results (no overall winner): Flight-1 – 1 Hamed Salem nett-66 (gross-69), 2 Ali Musbah (68/71), 3 Mohammed Al Fudhala (68/78), losing on countback Diab Sagar Al Noaimi (68/72). Flight-2 – 1 Yong Back Kim (66/80), 2 Essa Al Kaabi (67/81), 3 Gerry McDermott (68/84), losing on countback Ahmed Majid (68/82) and Paul Beaumont (68/83). Flight-3 – 1 Sang Oak Nam (65/101), 2 Ariette Paul (67/96), 3 Nicky Park (67/100).
