At St Christopher’s Cathedral in Manama, the children and young people of Friday Club will be presenting a play of The Three Trees on Friday at 9.30am.
It is a story about the dreams of three trees growing tall and strong on a hillside and of their hopes of what they might become when they are eventually chopped down: one has a longing to contain great riches, another has the hope to be powerful and the third wanted to remain pointing to the heavens and the mysteries beyond them.
Each of them sees their dream fulfilled, but not in the way that any of them expected.
There are no tickets and all are welcome to attend.

This is with reference to the ongoing St Chris laptops and iPads debate.
There are many more commercially and procurement-based options that would benefit St Chris and parents, in my opinion, as well as the long-term innovation opportunities for the pupils.
1. Having Apple as the platform is the most expensive option and is also the most restrictive in terms of platform integration. And, an Apple PC is double the cost of a HP or Samsung/Asus etc so what capability are they looking for that requires an Apple?
2. Has St Chris looked at large companies like IBM, Huawei, HP or Samsung or even Injoo (an Arabic /English platform that is very cheap) to provide the tablets and PCs with maintenance, support and finance, such that the parents have the options of purchase within the deal or to pay a monthly fee? This could also provide a refresh programme as well as ensuring technological compliance every two years or so.
3. These large companies can also provide content and integration with open platforms for content and education.
4. As for the seniors, has St Chris looked at IBM’s Bluemix platform whereby the kids can access the latest technologies and build apps for iOS, Android etc and infuse analytics/social media? For an example to illustrate what could be done, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFsc0B6DN8s
