Gulf Weekly Professionals hold edge over amateurs

The Royal Golf Club’s team of PGA professionals continued their winning streak in this year’s annual Professionals’ Challenge with a superb 13 under par gross score of 59.

The team, consisting of director of instruction Gavin Campbell, teaching professionals David Edwards, Juan Fuentes and tournament co-ordinator Sohail Singh, got off to a strong start as they were 10 under after the first 11 holes and having 3 birdies over the last seven holes.

The Texas Scramble tournament attracted players and saw competitors trying to better the Pros’ team score. The team of professionals stayed ahead as the rest of them came a shot away of beating the professionals. The team of Barry Hobday, Ben Elsworth, Todd Gillespie and Jason Smith managed to get in 0.8 of a shot to the Pros, achieving a score of 59.8, winning the best score (Amateur Winners).

Peter Mutti winning the nearest to the pin on hole 2, while hole 7 was won by Rob Lane, 12th by Bill Lindsay and 16th by Barry Hobday.
