Yaseen Le Falher became Bahrain’s 2015 Junior Open Champion after winning the two-day event at the Royal Golf Club with impressive gross scores of 73 and 67 to finish with a total of 140.
Charles T’Kint was runner-up with a total of 147 and Saud Al Sharif came a close third with 148.
More than 40 youngsters took part in the competition, which was held in association with Bahrain Golf Association.
The tournament was split into three main categories, with under-21s and under-16s competing on the Montgomerie championship course and the under-14s and beginners playing on the Mini Monty par 3 course.
The under-21 competition was won by Stewart Hutchinson with a gross total of 153. The under-14 category of the Mini Monty competition was won by Alexander Hopman-Ruh with a two-round total of 60.
“It was fantastic to see so many juniors competing - there were some very good scores and lots of potential for the future,” said Sheldon Cameron, the club’s golf operations manager. “Congratulations to Yaseen and all the prize winners and thank you to the Bahrain Golf Association for their help with this fantastic event which attracted players from Bahrain, Qatar and South Africa.”
The prize-giving ceremony took place in the club’s marquee where Bahrain Golf Association representative Daij Khalifa distributed the prizes.
Results – Category 21 & Under (Gross): 1st Stewart Hutchinson (83+70=153), 2nd Fahad Al Hakam (78,81=159), 3rd Ali Al Hakam (88,85=173). Best Nett: Khalifa Daij (76,74=150). Category 16 & Under (Gross): 1st Yaseen Le Falher (73,67=140), 2nd Charles T’’Kint (73,74=147), 3rd Saud Al Sharif (75,73=148). Best Nett: Ethan Murray (66,61=127). Mini Monty (Gross): 1st Alexander Hopman-Ruh (32,28=60), 2nd Ali Babtain (33,31=63), 3rd Nawaf Ajajmi (37,29=66). Under 12: 1st Ali Abdulla AlQallaf (37,34=71).
